Using net replacement film instead of net to hold a bale together is the latest significant development in the production of baled silage. Feng-flex works on suitably engineered combination baler/wrapper units like the Mc Hale Fusion 3 plus. Crop Packaging Systems have combined a mix of resins with our manufacturing expertise to develop net replacement film. Silage wrap has been used in Ireland, France, Norway and New Zealand. Whole crop barley, Alfalfa, Lucerne, Maize and Grass have all been baled successfully with net replacement film. More importantly for our climate a wide range of grass has been baled, from leafy and wet to stemy and dry. net replacement film is a different product to Silage wrap bale wrapping film. It is not as elastic as it is required to hold the bale together. In fact net replacement film holds bales tighter than net thus reducing air ingress after the bale is released from the baler. This improves silage quality.
